“For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.” (Romans 7:22-25)
If you’re a Christian, Scripture says you’re waging war with yourself. Your body is filled with sin, which is the “old you” that hangs around. You are forgiven, but even as a Christian, you will still sin.
Good news! When you become a Christian, your inner self has been made new through Christ. This part of you, Christ is growing to be more like Him every day. The process happens over time, not immediately. You start to see yourself not being hindered by God’s law, rather you begin to find not just contentment but joy in surrendering to God. If you’ve been saved, Jesus will one day make you completely like Him and do away with sin forever in heaven. Pray today that you will see God’s laws in a new light, and that you will allow that light to overflow into pure joy.
