“Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come. Her mouth speaks wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her: ‘Many women have done noble deeds, but you surpass them all!’ Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD will be praised.” (Proverbs 31:25-30)
What does Mother’s Day mean to you? What do you really think of the mothers in your life? Do you treat the mothers in your life respectfully every day or do you just show respect on this one day every year? I know I fall short of that a lot.
I don’t always think of the work my mother has done over the years to help me be the man that I am today. The love that she has shown me whether I deserved it or not. The strength and honor that she clothes herself with on behalf of her family. I have not always called her blessed.
I don’t always praise my wife and the wonderful mother that she is. She definitely surpasses the noble deeds other women have done simply by the love she shows my children and me. How does she put up with it? How does she put up with me? I know that I don’t always deserve the love she shows me.
So why do they do it? Why do they put up with us?
Many men definitely fall short of the mark as we see many of them today abandoning their families and leaving mothers to raise their children alone. How do we honor those mothers?
Thank God for the love of mothers. Praise God for women who fear and honor the Lord! Thank You Jesus for a mother who taught me about You and made sure I was in a strong church as a child!
Thank You God for my wife who gives loving instruction to our children and honors me even when I don’t deserve it and honors You, Lord, always!
Treat the mothers in your life like every day is Mother’s Day!
Let’s honor our moms by attending church with them this Sunday. I can’t wait to see you all then!
I love you church!
