So often I hear people say that they don’t believe that God has gifted them with being able to share the Gospel with others. The fact is if you call yourself a Christian Jesus has commanded you to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20).
That may seem like a high order. Well, it is, but you need to know that Jesus does not expect to do this alone. He goes on to say “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). You see when it comes to sharing the message of Jesus with others, He does not leave us unequipped. He gives us power through His Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the very presence of God. Jesus’ promise to be forever present with us is fulfilled by the Holy Spirit and it is through Him that we receive guidance and power when sharing the Gospel with others. When speaking with others about the saving grace of Jesus Christ, we should trust the Holy Spirit to do the talking through us. Jesus instructed the disciples in this very thing when He said “do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit” (Mark 13:11).
Now that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t study God’s Word and prepare yourself for opportunities to share God’s message with others. Peter writes “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15). It is important to study your Bible because God speaks to us through His Word. And through knowledge of His Word, we can better understand when His Spirit speaks to us and prompts us to share His message with others.
So be always in prayer, study God’s Word, listen to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to share the message of the Gospel with others through you.
I love you, Church! See you Sunday!
