Healthy Families Put God First
Luke 14:26–33
“Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:33)
Healthy families put God first in their…
…Devotion. (v. 26–27)
“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother… he cannot be My disciple.”
- Not about hatred, it’s about being His disciple.
- Our love for Him must be greater.
- Jesus should be the center of life in the family.
Do our family members see our devotion to Jesus?
…Decisions. (v. 28-30)
“which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost.”
- Healthy families “count the cost.”
- Our Decisions reveal our priorities.
- Make home decisions that reflect God.
Do our decisions help or hinder our spiritual growth?
…Commitment. (v. 31-33)
“whoever of you does not forsake all… cannot be My disciple.”
- A disciple is totally surrendered.
- Half-hearted discipleship = half-healthy families.
- Families who are committed make decision that honor Christ.
What have we surrendered to Christ? What are we holding back?
